Eagerly Exploring

Reading is one of the UK's top ten retail destinations and really is a shoppers' paradise. With the choice of stores having grown dramatically over the past few years it is the perfect destination for finding a new outfit, the ideal gift or a whole new look for your home.

The town boasts two impressive shopping centres, The Oracle and Broad Street Mall, and is also one of the few places where you can find the UK's top four retailers in one place. Debenhams, House of Fraser, John Lewis and Marks & Spencer are all situated within easy walking distance of each other.

The Oracle Shopping and Leisure Centre is home to over 115 stores, including Mamas and Papas, The Disney Store, Hobbs, Karen Millen and Hotel Chocolat, as well as a host of restaurants, cafes and bars along The Riverside. Our other major shopping centre, Broad Street Mall, offers even more great names - including bargain hunter's paradise T.K.Maxx, the recently refurbished Zavvi Megastore and a new Peacocks store. At the other end of the town centre you can find family-run department store Jackson's where you'll enjoy a taste of traditional shopping.

Aside from the two shopping centres, you will find all your favourite high street brand names in Reading - either on Broad Street (our main shopping thoroughfare) or in the side roads between Friar Street and Broad Street. In fact shopping in Reading ranges from John Lewis - one of the country's largest department stores - to the bustle of our colourful street market.

You should also make time to visit one of the many boutique style stores situated in the side streets and arcades. Gun Street, St Mary's Butts, Bristol and West Arcade and Harris Arcade offer a mix of small specialist shops, while West Street is home to the biggest name in discount shopping - Primark.

Why not combine your shopping with a night out to make the very most of your visit to Reading? Whatever your plans the following information will ensure your visit becomes an enjoyable and relaxed one.
